M*A*S*H* Television Show80s mash

On February 28, 1983, 125 million viewers watched the final episode of M*A*S*H*.  It was the most watched television episode in U.S. History.  The show ran for 11 years.  Set during the Korean War, the show was 8 years longer than he actual war.

Motorola Cell Phone

80s phoneMartin Cooper made the firs public cell phone call on a Motorola Mobile Phone.  Can you imagine carrying around ths in your hip pocket?

 

 

 

June 18, 1983: Sally Ride became the first American woman in space.  She was a mission specialist on the space shuttle Challenger.

September 17, 1983: Vanessa Williams became the first African American to win Miss America.

September 18, 1983: Kiss appears on MTV.  It’s the first public appearance by the band without makeup.

October 23, 1983: U.S. Marine barracks bombed in Beirut.  241 people are killed by a truck bomb.

October 25, 1983: U.S. invades the Caribbean Island of Grenada to protect U.S. citizens (mostly medical students) from the islands Marxist regime.
